I’ve deliberately been quiet on my blog of late for a variety of reasons however this is news that just has to be shared. Today I took a call from a lovely lady from Kent County Council. This in itself is newsworthy as I’ve rarely considered any of my dealings with KCC to be with anyone I would describe as “lovely”. But this lady was as she was calling to deliver good news… VICTORIA IS FINALLY GOING TO GET THE EDUCATION SHE DESERVES!!!!!!
Yep… after 3 and a bit years, many annual reviews, more emails than I can count, several training courses, webinars, seminars, reading of case law and one pending tribunal next year, KCC have finally accepted a change of placement is necessary and our chosen school for Victoria have accepted her as a student there!
I don’t yet know the timelines for the transition and we haven’t discussed this with Victoria yet (so if you know her please don’t mention this, and if your children know her please keep it from them for now), but it is definitely happening!
I am going to keep this post positive and end it there, and won’t mention my frustration that nothing has materially changed since the last annual review and final EHCP was issued in June leading to more time being wasted by KCC and a potential mid-year transition that could have been avoided… oops!
If anyone else is fighting this fight, keep going. To quote someone close to me recently: “when you have “right” on your side, you’ll get the right outcome eventually!”
Ace of base. That was one he’ll if a fight
This is not only fantastic for you,Victoria, and the whole family. But for all who like you are on the same journey.
